61 61 people viewed this event.

A free concert and special 50/50 drawing will be held in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Month.  Local singing sensation Ethel Lee will perform jazz, standards, Motown, and blues with keyboardist Richie Mitnick on the Senior Center Great Room stage on Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m.  To help minimize some of the challenges faced by older adults who are in crisis, members of the Westfield Pride Committee will hold a 50/50 drawing to establish a ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ fund.  The COA staff does a lot of casework with seniors who are in crisis.  In most cases, housing is the central issue.  Small amounts of cash can be very helpful is assisting individual clients with the purchase of essentials such as bedding, small appliances, and personal hygiene supplies.  The 50/50 tickets can be purchased prior to the start of the concert.  The doors to the Senior Center will open at 1:15.  Participants are encouraged to wear purple, the official color of elder abuse awareness.  Thank you to the Friends of the Westfield Senior Center for funding this free concert and thank you to the Westfield Pride Committee for establishing this important crisis intervention fund.  No advance sign-ups are required.  Bring a friend and enjoy the Sunday afternoon camaraderie!
